Business report regarding Sweets & snacks Expo in Indianapolis
Date: from 14th to 16th in May 2024
Venue: Indiana Convention Center Exhibitors: about 1,000 business from countries
Guests: about 13,500 from countries Participants: 5 members from TACOM
1General information
Sweets & Snacks Expo (hereinafter called the Expo) had been held in Chicago in the past but the Expo were held in Indianapolis this year. One of reason why the venue has been changed is increasing exhibition fee in Chicago due to proceeding inflation in the US. Geographically speaking here in Indianapolis, it is not convenient if we consider access of our flights. On the other hand, the exhibition center is wide and clean so that trading companies and buyers from over the world including the US came to the Expo in order for them to have business meeting actively under comfortable place. Participation of the Expo is subsidy project by Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries which the Ministry encourage us with its strong support and backup in order for confectionary companies in Japan to cultivate new sales channel toward the world.

(1) The day for preparation
A: Regarding transportation, because accomodation fee near the exhibition hall was so expensive, our acccomodation was located far from the exhibition hall that we had to take a taxi or use a rental car as means of transportation which we could transport posters of participants,TACOM catalog, and so on with such means of transportation.

A wide range of Buyers those who belong Costco and Walmart by American capital and Daiso by Japanese capital came to the Expo. Most of guests were occupied by coming from Canada and EU except for US. Then, lots of guests from China, Taiwan and Asian countries were also occupied at the Expo as well. B: Major manufacturer’s booths Because economy is doing well due to stable economic condition in US, major manufactures have been increasing their sales figure so that they were making a sense of their presence at the Expo well. In fact, their booths were so popular by lots of guests.

3 Closing
Buyers were coming from not only the US, but also EU and Asian countries mainly to the Expo. There were over 800 exhibitors in the Expo those who made a presentation and an introduction of their new products. They were trying to increase their sales desperately. Judging from these facts, well noted that the purpose of the Expo was providing opportunities to connect between buyers, such as trading companies, and confectionary companies for the purpose of introduction of their products. For example, we could have business meeting with visitors those who were not normally so often to have business meeting with us. The Expo was quite rare exhibition which specialized confectionary buyers in food-oriented buyers got together.
