Business Report: PR Activity in the US
1 General
(1) Departure from Japan to the US
Under the previous regulation, travelers
were required to present a negative PCR test result
taken within 72 hours before departure. Under the revised regulation, however, travelers are
required to present a negative PCR test result taken within 24 hours before departure. In other
words, the cert ificate must be dated one day prior to the departure date.
(2) Vaccine Passport
There have been no changes. All travelers must have received two doses of the COVID
19
vaccine. Otherwise, they are subject to a 3 day mandatory quarantine followed by a 7 day self
quarantine.
(3) Submission to CDC
Submission of documentation to the CDC remains unchanged.
(4) Application to the State of California
The requirement to submit a travel application form to the State of California also remains
unchanged

Arrival from the US to Japan
(1) Quarantine Requirements
According to the previous regulations, a 6
day mandatory quarantine followed by a 3 day self
quarantine (10 days total) was required. Under the new regulations, the 6 day mandatory
quarantine remai ned in place, but the self quarantine period was reduced to 1 day (7 days total).
(2) Required Submissions
Travelers were still required to report their quarantine location to the Ministry of Health, Labor
and Welfare via an application, and to submit an e ntry quarantine declaration to the Minister of
Justice.
(3) Transportation Rules
Transportation protocol remained unchanged:
Travelers were transported by bus from Terminal 3 to the quarantine facility and returned to Terminal
3 upon completion. Even thoug h we stayed in Shinagawa, we were not allowed to disembark there and
had to return to the airport as per the regulations.
